U Tube Manometer
This ‘U’ tube manometer is graduated with readings 250mm on top and 250mm at bottom with centre zero marked. For checking the Water Column pressure, fill ’U’ tube with pure drinking water till both sides are at zero level. The instrument is now ready to operate up to 500 mm water column.
To obtain the Static Pressure connect any one tube to a positive or negative air stream and leave the other end open to atmosphere.
To obtain Differential pressure in a dust collector across the filter bags, connect one tube to the dust chamber and the other tube to the clean air chamber. The sum total of both the levels indicated is the pressure drop across the bag filter.

The inclined and vertical u-tube manometers are inexpensive and common in differential pressure measurements of flow meters like pitot tubes, orifices and nozzles
